The Institute of Directors (IoD) Showcase Roadshow ‘Open House’ came to the East Midlands. As a local Event Photographer Nottingham provided the ideal location for me to capture great images of the leading lights in business connectivity.
The Connecting Business Open House Event was held at the Nottingham Belfry Hotel. The hotel provides a great conference location with easy access to major motorway links, rail, and even handy air links too.
The Open House event has been touring the UK as part of a move to develop three areas of business awareness and growth nationally. Therefore, as an East Midlands Event Partner it was my honour to be involved in this flagship event and be the event photographer for Nottingham.
The three key areas that the IoD have been focussing on:
Global Business - Expanding operations to, and trading with, new overseas markets offers the possibility of real growth for UK companies.
Connected Business - Being connected to ideas, technology, cultures and people to embrace an ever-changing world and stay ahead.
Inclusive Business - understanding when there is real difference, there is a challenge to think differently, to collaborate, to innovate and to be better than we were before.
You can read my post on the national Global Event that was held in London. The Nottingham event was the second of these – ‘Connected Business’.

List Of Sponsors for the Connected Business Event:
One of the highlights of the events were the roundtable discussions. Of these the most animated was the table led by Susan Hallam MBE.
Susan is an excellent communicator. Her animated voice and turn of phrase are augmented by her visual communication. As an event photographer this is the very best!
Based in Nottingham, Susan is a living breathing legend among marketers. Delegates were busy writing down everything they could as Susan coached them for about half an hour on getting technology lined up for creating quality leads.
From the discussions following, this was the ‘gold nugget’ that those IoD members took away.
Event Photographer – Nottingham Heroes
From reading my other event posts you will have picked up that I enjoy meeting the speakers, VIPS, and delegates. I also love meeting the support staff. Those that make the events as good as they are, and are often the unsung heroes of the day.
It may have been unheard by most people, but there was a slight squeak in the new door to the venue. During a break Paul, pictured below, quickly fixed the noise with his trusty drill!
