Photography Awards

Capturing the excitement and thrill of an awards ceremony is always a privilege. Usually, I capture a number of different aspects of the event, these include.

  • The arrival of guests in their best clothing
  • Networking and mixing of guests over light refreshments - this is an ideal opportunity to capture individuals and small groups interacting, with some posed photographs thrown in!
  • The speeches and award ceremony itself
  • The winner group photos
  • All of the guests assembled together

This photograph was taken at the Celebration Evening of the Institute of Directors Student Membership £10 Challenge.

Students were split into teams and, under the careful eye of a business mentor, set about making as much profit as possible. Mentors are all influential business leaders from the local area and add so much to the event. All of the money raised goes to the John Van Geest Cancer Research Centre, a purpose-built research centre based on Nottingham Trent’s Clifton campus that aims to save lives by improving the diagnosis and treatment of various cancers.

This particular event photograph is of one of the winning groups. I decided to move away from a simple line of people that is rather dull and to go for something a little more fun. The winning students were up for the challenge and I think they enjoyed acting a little. As you can see the mentor especially got into the role!
