Photography for Events in Oxford

Every event has a story to tell, made up of the moments both large and small that are shared between everyone present. As a professional photographer providing photography for events both big and small I tell the story of your event.

I highlight the big storylines, showcase the 'must have' images as well as capture the more intimate and personal stories that always go alongside any event.

Take your next event to the next level and turn it into a powerful marketing tool you can use over and over again with professional event photography.

Photography for Events

My main priority is to capture the keynote speaks, podium images, group photos, context shots of the venue, happy attendees, networking and so on.

As an event photographer, I like to capture something of the context of the venue. This is ideal for my clients who will remind delegates of the superb facilities they had at the last event when advertising for the next one. In addition, the venue loves this kind of image as it means that they do not have to pay a photographer like me to take it. My clients love that the venue loves the photos as the venue uses them in their advertising to attract more vent clients and so my client gets advertising for free by the venue!

During this particular conference, the first day of the at the annual conference of the National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD), delegates were given a task to find and record information in the Pitt Rivers Museum. The museum itself was very dark. Almost pitch black with just the lights from the various cabinets and displays. This was how museums were done in Victorian times.

The venue staff were not keen on me using flash (which I do not really use very much anyway at events like this) or a tripod so it would all be very low light and handheld. The event organisers were convinced that I would not get anything at all at this point in the conference.

Using the top of the range professional equipment ensures that I have the right tools for the job, every time. My Nikon D5, called 'The Batman' of cameras, can take a picture in very low light and make it look great. So no problems really.

This image was taken, handheld, in a dark museum. Our eyes grow accustomed very quickly, but people were getting nothing on their iPhones as they took selfies.

The conference was the first day of the at the annual conference of the National Society for Education in Art and Design (NSEAD). NSEAD provides a real forum for teachers and those interested in education to influence policy at the highest levels. The first day of the conference was held in the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford.

Photography for events - Telling the Story

For every event, I use a variety of styles from reportage (subtle photography taken from afar), staged group shots, interior shots as well as formal set up shots. I have got a keen eye for capturing the engagement of attendees and capturing telling moments. I am a detail-oriented photographer and will always make sure that even the simplest of moments are captured. I capture the expressions, and the spirit of the event as well as the celebratory moments. I visually capture the characters of the participants, presenters and performers, who together make these events a great success.

Before your event, I consult with your event organiser to agree on the images that are ‘must have’, such as podium speakers, group photographs, and the CEO laughing. We also go through any special visitors who would be great to capture, examples would include investors and significant shareholders or employees. At the same time, we discuss the style, agenda and timing of the event.

"Peter is an expert photographer. His images of our busy conferences and symposiums are excellent. He is professional in every way: he is highly talented, reliable and organised. Peter has achieved the best possible record of our events and best professional images of our team and delegates. If we could give Peter more than five stars we would!"

Sophie Leach

For your event I will give you an online portal where everything connected to your event photoshoot will be in one place. Items such as galleries, design proofs, contracts, files, links, videos and any other documents. The dates and times of our meetings and even a place for you to keep all of your information like contact details. Your portal is available to you at any time day or night. Should you have any worries, questions or new ideas then you can contact me either by email, text or telephone.

Arriving early and finishing last I ensure that I have everything that you want to be captured. During the event, I blend in so as to get natural looking images, and I also stage where I need to ensure you get the very best quality photographs. Organising large groups of people is not an issue, plus I have a fairly loud voice when needed!

"Peter is a real professional who took time to understand our needs, exercised real creativity and left us with a set of excellent images that we are proud to include in our promotional materials. I would highly recommend Peter to business colleagues, family and friends."

Ron Lynch, Regional Director, Institute Of Directors East Midlands

Once your event is over I will prepare the best photographs from your event. Your images will be ready with 48 hours, or sooner (12 hours) if the express service is requested.

All of your images will be fully edited, colour corrected and available to you via your online gallery. You will also have the facility to share your gallery with attendees, vendors and selected colleagues. You decide what they can (and cannot) download and the resolution they receive. Your final images are then available to you to use how you wish. You may use them across all media and across all territories with no restriction on time.

"Peter Nutkins has a remarkable skill in engaging creatively and sensitively with any situation, dark rooms, busy, shy or distracted people. He would be my photographer of choice for business, conference or more family centred events and celebrations."

Lesley Butterworth, General Secretary, National Society for Education in Art and Design
