Buachaille Etive Mòr

Buachaille Etive Mòr (or Buachaille Èite Mòr) stands guard at the southern border of Glen Coe. It looks somewhat like a pyramid from the A82 road and is a warning that you are now entering some more serious countryside.

The story behind the image

The Buachaille is one of those mountains that any landscape photographer visiting the Highlands of Scotland has to collect. I have tried a number of times and in varying conditions to capture something of the majestic beauty of 'The Herdsman of Etive'. In this photograph, the River Etive flows away from the mountain with the face Stob Dearg in view. This is the highest of the four tops standing at about 1022m.

I really wanted a tree or boulder in the foreground, and having spent some time hunting about could not find exactly what I wanted. perhaps I will revisit the Herdsman and catch that composition some day soon!

I hope you like the image.

Please note that Peter adds new photographs to his online collection at regular intervals. In a bid to make sure that he remains in the real world he limits his time online!

Location: Buachaille Etive Mòr, Glen Etive, Highlands of Scotland.
