The Buachaille, Herdsman of Etive

The Buachaille, or more formally Buachaille Etive Mòr is the mountain that welcomes visitors heading into Glen Etive in the Highlands of Scotland. It’s name means the Herdsman of Etive.

Buachaille Èite Mòr (the Gaelic) is an essential image for any photographer heading to this dramatic part of Scotland.

My journey took me to the Isle of Skye which meant travelling through Glencoe. The Buachaille was my first sight of this beautiful part of the United Kingdom.

The most famous side (because you can see it from the road) is the steep, craggy north-eastern face of Stob Dearg. This is the highest peak, there are three other main tops which are just as amazing. Stob Dearg and Stob na Bròige are classed as Munros, with their lower siblings Stob na Doire and Stob Coire Altruim completing the set.
