Landscape Photographer

Being a landscape photographer I get to see so many wonderful parts of our world. From dramatic sunrises to snow driven mountains the United Kingdom has so much to offer.

Bluebell Dream

Looking through the Internet and glossy holiday brochures you could be forgiven for believing that you need to travel far and wide to see amazing views and landscapes. You would not be further from the truth. Within a few hours, you can be in the heart of the beautiful landscape from any spot in the UK. From most places, it would be less than one hour.

Maybe travelling to Wales does not sound quite so exciting as a hike through the Himalayas. Granted, the scenery is pretty different too...but nonetheless dramatic and inspiring in its own way.

The weather can be cold and damp, but it can also be bright and warm. I think we focus too much on the negative of 'British weather' when at least half the time it is brilliant.

This particular photograph, which was 'Highly Commended' in the International Photographer of the Year 2017 awards, is entitled Bluebell Dream. I captured this image first thing after sunrise in a small area of woodland in the south of England. The final image is a composite of two images blended to give a dream-like quality.

One difficulty I found when taking this photograph was the number of other photographers up and about at this hour! I am used to be alone (or maybe with just one other person) so early, but there were a dozen or so photographers stepping in and out of the bluebells and trees!
