When I was a young lad growing up in Somerset, my parents would take me to see the steam engines at Cranmore. The East Somerset Railway was a dream of a place and the excitement of seeing 'Black Prince' and exploring the engine shed remain with me today.
Recently I had the opportunity to visit the Tramway Museum in Crich, Derbyshire. All of those childhood memories came flooding back - not with steam engines this time, but with trams.
I have not really got much experience with trams. However, at Crich you can ride as much as you like and lose yourself in the various museums and displays (plus the shed of course). To top it all off there is even a vintage sweet shop and tearoom.
This photograph was taken as I headed up the main street of the 'village'. I guess this would have been a typical sight in years gone past. The guard walked through the archway at just the right time!
I hope this photograph helps jog your childhood memories and inspires you to go out and explore something of the past.
Please note that Peter adds new photographs to his online collection at regular intervals. In a bid to make sure that he remains in the real world he limits his time online!
